Kristy Hutchings is the Long Beach Press-Telegram's Senior Reporter and Editor of the Grunion Gazette, a weekly community newspaper. 

She covers all things Long Beach — including local government, homelessness and housing, the environment, and more.

Prior to joining the Press-Telegram, she served as the Daily Breeze's lead City Hall Reporter. 

Hutchings was a freelance reporter for Capital & Main before that. She produced an in-depth investigative series examining the efficacy of Kaiser Permanente's mental health care system in California, which was the publication's most-read article the year it was published. 

Her work has been published across Southern California News Group papers, including the Los Angeles Daily News, the Orange County Register, the Long Beach Press-Telegram, and the Daily Breeze. Hutchings' freelance work has been featured in Capital & Main, Fast Company, BuzzFeed News, and NBC.
